Our beautiful Megan from Macclesfield is unable to sit unassisted and low tone in her muscles means her spine is slowly curving. The NHS can’t help until she needs spine surgery. A Mollii suit may help her.
We hate asking for help but we want to get as quickly as possible a Mollii suit for Megan which may help strengthen her muscles and even teach her how to use them.
Megan is registered blind and is so severely developmentally delayed that, at the age of 6, she is still unable to sit, walk or talk. Because of the floppy muscles in her trunk, her spine is bending and there is nothing the NHS can do until the bend is so severe she needs spinal surgery. We simply won’t accept that there’s nothing we can do to help in the meantime.
The Mollii suit is worn for one hour every 2 days and has in-built electrical stimulation which targets muscle groups and helps develop the pathways between the muscles and the brain. We hope that the suit will help Megan to improve the tone of her muscles, which will then slow down the spine curvature and may even help her to sit and play unassisted.
Megan will also need other seating, equipment and therapy in the near future as her needs demand.
