Austin’s Next BIG Step

Austin and his twin Freddie are nearly 4 and have never been able to walk together. Austin has Cerebral Palsy and is unable to stand or walk unaided. Please help to make their dream come true.
Austin and Freddie were born at 25 weeks in Southend weighing just 1lb 10 oz and 1lb 11 oz, with less than a 10% chance of survival. In the months to follow Austin had many hurdles to overcome.
There were 2 trips to Great Ormond Street Hospital for pioneering brain surgery. At just 5 weeks old weighing a tiny 2lb he had a VP Shunt inserted to treat hydrocephalus caused by a bleed on the brain. However, Austin breezed through both surgeries and on 31st Dec 2014 our little warrior came home.
In his short life Austin has endured 4 brain surgeries, 2 other major ops and a diagnosis of cerebral palsy.
An operation known as SDR (selective dorsal rhizotomy) could change Austin’s life and give him the best chance of walking with Freddie. This surgery, along with years of intense physio, will improve Austin’s quality of life and give him the independence he craves to help him take that ‘Next Big Step’.
Austin is one of the lucky children that fit the criteria and he had his surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital via the NHS.
The funds will allow us to give Austin the best chance of an independent life with years of physio therapy, rehabilitation, specialist equipment and adaptations to the home.
We are fundraising to give our little legend the opportunity to live the normal life he so deserves.
Thank you for your support.
