Just4Children is fundraising to provide Aurelia with the specialist equipment and therapies she needs to help her reach her full potential and live a happy life.
Aurelia who was born in 2018 is from Manningtree in Essex. She is a truly amazing little girl. She was born with an incredibly rare genetic condition, VPS4A related neurodevelopmental disorder, which affects only six people worldwide. She is registered blind, severely physically disabled (she can’t yet sit unaided, crawl, stand or walk and has very limited fine motor skills), is tube fed and non-verbal. In spite of all of this she is such a happy, sociable little girl, she has the most beautiful smile, a ridiculously infectious laugh and a crazy thrill-seeking nature.
Aurelia has been through so much in her first three years, with multiple surgeries and hospital visits, and continues to face new challenges every day. But, through her sheer determination and hard work, she is making real progress. Our current target is for her to be able to sit on Santa’s lap this Christmas!
We have had amazing support from a whole raft of NHS doctors, nurses, specialists and therapists but sadly ongoing funding shortages, coupled with the effects of COVID-19, mean that Aurelia cannot access the regular therapy she really needs. Early intervention is key to children with neurodevelopmental disorders and we are desperate not to miss the opportunity for Aurelia to unlock her true potential. We are therefore fundraising for Just4Children to provide Aurelia with access to regular and intensive blocks of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy right now, rather than joining an ever growing waiting list. We also want to raise funds to provide Aurelia with specialist equipment which could drastically improve her quality of life and allow her to play alongside her friends.
Thank you for following Aurelia’s Adventures and for any donation, large or small, you are able to make. Your support really does mean the world to Aurelia and to us as a family.
