We are fundraising for Luke to have Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery and the required physiotherapy needed at Alder Hey hospital which is not funded by the NHS. This will be life changing.
Luke and his twin brother Jack were born 13 weeks premature and spent 10 weeks in neonatal at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital. At the age of 2 and a half both boys were diagnosed with PVL (damage to the brain) after having an MRI scan which in turn has led to both boys having cerebral palsy.
Luke has spastic diplegia cerebral palsy which means he has intense tightness in his lower legs. Whilst we do many different therapies with Luke (and Jack) his condition has deteriorated and has moved from a grading of 2 to a 3. A grade 4 will mean he will lose his mobility and become wheel chair bound which would be devastating.
In order for Luke to have a painfree and mobile future SDR is the only option for him.
Luke is a lovely boy, full of character and smiles. He has a very determined twin (who has walking difficulties also) and an amazing big brother Caleb who is six.
Please help Luke have a future where he can walk, jump, run, go to the toilet independently – lots of things we all take for granted.
* All funds from Luke’s previous Campaign page will be transferred over on June 6th
