We are fundraising for Just4Children to support Freddie’s Post SDR physio, equipment and activites which will benefit his progress after his surgery. We want to ensure Freddie reaches his full mobility potential.
Freddie is 4 years old from Leighton Buzzard. He is one of the happiest, cheekiest boys you could meet. He has Spastic Diaplegia Cerebal Palsy; high tone in his legs and mildy in his arms. The tone makes walking unassisted impossible for Freddie and everyday tasks very hard.
Freddie currently uses a Kaye walker for very short distances and partly around the house. When he at home and not using his walker, he crawls. For longer distances he has a wheelchair.
Freddie is having surgery in early September called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) which will help to reduce spasticity in his legs making movements easier, lowering chances too of further surgery. Some children after this surgery even go on to walk unassisted.
The surgery and most post op care is currently not funded on the NHS. We want to fundraise for post op care, physio sessions, specialist equipment and activities.
We are fully aware that the surgery is not a cure for CP, but we cannot pass up the opportunity to try and improve his mobility.
